Thank you for your interest in this exciting and important role.

We are a dynamic, successful and complex organisation providing a comprehensive range of secondary care and community care services to the people of Harrogate and District, North Leeds, North Yorkshire and the North East of England. The Trust enjoys an exceptional reputation for the quality of the care provided and was rated as ‘outstanding’ for ‘caring’ and ‘outstanding’ in four core services by the Care Quality Commission in 2016.

With the retirement of our Trust Chair, Sandra Dodson, who will step down at the end of her nine year term later this year, we are looking for an exceptional individual to join and provide strong leadership to the Board of Directors and Council of Governors.  This is an interesting period for the NHS as we develop new models for delivering care, work on sustainability and transformation plans with our neighbours and partners, and at the same time keep our focus on our continued high performance on quality and national targets.

If you have significant experience of board-level leadership in an organisation of at least similar scale and complexity, and if you can demonstrate a broad understanding of how NHS services impact on patients, public and staff, then we would be interested to hear from you.  We will be looking for a strategic thinker with the ability to lead and inspire others, someone with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, well-developed political sensitivities and the ability to network at a senior level. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong personal fit with, and desire to sustain, the Trust values of being respectful, responsible and passionate. In return we can offer an intellectually stimulating role working with a high achieving and stable team, and the opportunity to shape our strategy, making a significant difference to how healthcare is delivered across our communities.

In this website you will find more information about us as an organisation, our achievements to date, the journey we are on and the strategies that underpin this.  You will also be able to access our board papers, the CQC report on us and many other relevant documents.

We hope the information contained in this website inspires you to consider an application.  If you need further information, or if you want to have a confidential conversation, please call Robin Staveley of GatenbySanderson on 0113 205 6097.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Pamela Allen – Deputy Chair of the Council of Governors

Ian Ward – Senior Independent Director
